The company was founded in 1967 by an association of people with manual experience in the field, respecting an old tradition common in the ceramic district of Civita Castellana. Touching all the phases of evolution from artisan skills to industrial production, Catalano has passed from a monotype production of sanitary fittings in the Seventies, to designer collections (Balestra collection) in the Eighties, to becoming in the Nineties, the first producer in the district who is design oriented. Today it is one of the most important companies in Italy in this field, with 200 employees and 45,000 sq. mt. of production space, wide-spread distribution throughout the country and notable presence on various international markets.

Ceramica Concorde was set up in Spezzano di Fiorano in 1969 to produce semi-finished products for the ceramics industry. In 1976, Ceramica Atlas was founded in Finale Emilia for production of double-fired floor and wall tiles. In 1981, the two companies merged to form Ceramiche Atlas Concorde, becoming the area's largest producer of single-fired white paste floor tiles. In 1988, Atlas Concorde introduced porcelain stoneware technology, and in 1996 it launched a program to renew its production facilities, making the Company a reference point in the ceramic industry.
